scosa’s registered Music Therapist, Chelsea Laratro, travelled from Adelaide to spend a week with participants at our Clare Hub. She brought with her a variety of musical instruments and implemented an interactive Music Therapy Program. We saw our participants grow in their confidence and engagement across all their activities. Chelsea left a selection of musical instruments with our participants which we have continued to use – they have brought so much happiness to our Hub!
Music Therapy is a clinical and evidence-based practice which uses music interventions to accomplish individual goals. It is also an effective tool for stimulating a person’s speech as well as providing a path for nonverbal communication and an outlet for self-expression.
Some of the physical benefits associated with Music Therapy include the development of fine and gross motor coordination as well as an increase in muscle strength and range of motion.
Thank you Chelsea for coming to visit our Clare Hub!
